Max Verstappen Claims Nordschleife Pole Position with Dominant Performance
Max Verstappen has taken pole for the four-hour endurance race at the Nordschleife. He will start from the front in a Mercedes GT3. The car is shared with Jules Gounon and Dani Juncadella.
Qualifying timeline
Dani Juncadella began the session for the Verstappen Racing entry. He posted an early benchmark lap of 8:01.3.
A #40 Porsche later hit the wall. That incident triggered a Code 60 on the Nordschleife. Under Code 60, drivers must not exceed 60 km/h in the affected section.
Late-session drama and decisive lap
Max Verstappen took over after the stoppage. He completed several installation laps and then handed the car to Jules Gounon.
The #16 Audi driven by Christopher Haase and Nico Hantke set a 7:53. Gounon returned the car to Verstappen in the closing stages. Verstappen then produced a 7:51 lap.
No competitor improved after another Code 60. Verstappen Racing therefore claimed pole position. The margin was roughly two seconds over the nearest rival.
Why this matters
The outing doubles as preparation for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in May. Verstappen used the shorter event to sharpen race pace and procedures. His final run showed a notably dominant performance around the Nordschleife.
