Polish Athlete’s World Championship Run Ends in Disappointment

The indoor World Athletics Championships opened on Friday morning in Toruń. Polish competitors appeared early on the schedule.

Natalia Bukowiecka featured in the morning 400m heats and entered as one of the favorites. Maria Żodzik drew attention in the high jump final.

High jump final

The final gathered top international jumpers. Nicola Olyslagers and Yaroslava Mahuchikh were among the contenders.

Żodzik began the competition strongly. She cleared 1.85 m, 1.89 m and 1.93 m without trouble.

Problems came at 1.96 m. She failed her first attempt and then suffered a poor run-up on her second try, striking the bar. The third jump also missed the mark.

Żodzik completed the event in fifth place. The Polish athlete’s World Championship run ends in disappointment.

Medal outcome

Yaroslava Mahuchikh won the title by clearing over 2.00 m. She was the only competitor to pass that height.

Organizers did not award a bronze medal in this event. Instead, three athletes received silver medals: Nicola Olyslagers, Angelina Topić and Yuliia Levchenko.

Natalia Bukowiecka remains under observation in the 400m rounds. Filmogaz.com will continue covering Polish athletes at the championships.
