St. John’s will be the home side when Brown visits Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium on Saturday. Face-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Queens.

Recent form for the Red Storm

St. John’s dropped a tight game at Mercer, 12–11. The Red Storm trailed by as many as five goals.

A 6–2 run in the second half narrowed the gap late. Mitch Campbell led the offense with a career-high four goals and one assist.

Noah Plenn, Jake Wright and Jayson Cardenas each scored twice. Goalie Matt Nelson recorded 15 saves. It was his seventh game this season with double-digit stops.

St. John’s also converted key man-up opportunities. Their nationally ranked man-down unit helped keep them competitive.

Brown scouting report

The Bears enter the weekend with a 4–2 record. They beat UMass Lowell 13–6 on Tuesday.

Brown opened the season 3–1 before losses to No. 6 North Carolina and No. 11 Cornell. Head Coach Jon Torpey returns four of the team’s top five scorers from last year.

Senior captain Marcus Wertheim led Brown last season with 29 points, on 19 goals and 10 assists. He currently tops the team with 20 points, including 14 goals and six assists.

Jeremy Hopsicker has been a prolific finisher this year, with 19 goals so far. Defender Charlie Cave anchors the backline after earning All-Ivy League Second Team honors.

Cave started every game last season. He totaled 23 caused turnovers and 35 ground balls.
