PlayStation Plus Postpones April Free Game Update
PlayStation Plus extra and premium tier updates for March are now available to download. Members can install the new titles immediately.
Sony did not announce which games will leave in April alongside the March arrivals. That departure list usually appears with the updates.
Timing explains the delay
The extra and premium tiers move games into a “Last Chance To Play” section each month. Those titles remain available for one more month before they exit.
The monthly updates normally land on the third Tuesday. In April the third Tuesday falls on 21 April, creating a five-week gap between updates.
As reported by Filmogaz.com, this calendar quirk makes it too early to name departing games. Put another way, PlayStation Plus Postpones April Free Game Update until the usual four-week notice can be given.
Filmogaz.com expects the “Last Chance To Play” list to appear next week on Tuesday 24 April. The confirmed departures should follow that update.
March additions
The extra tier gained several notable entries this month. The selection mixes AAA and indie releases.
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 (PS5)
- Persona 5 Royal (PS5, PS4)
- Persona 5 Royal Ultimate Edition (PS4)
- Madden NFL 26 (PS5)
- Metal Eden (PS5)
- The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria (PS5)
- Astroneer (PS4)
- Blasphemous 2 (PS5, PS4)
Premium tier addition
The premium tier added Tekken: Dark Resurrection. It is the only premium addition listed this month.
Highlights and recommendations
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 drew praise as a strong first-person shooter. Persona 5 Royal remains widely regarded as a top role-playing game.
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria received positive attention as a standout recent LOTR title. That praise comes despite limited recent competition.
There should be plenty to keep players busy this month. Filmogaz.com will publish the confirmed departing list as soon as Sony updates the “Last Chance To Play” section.
