Motorcyclist Killed in M4 Collision Near Newport
A motorcyclist has died after a serious crash near junction 24 of the M4 at Coldra roundabout. The collision occurred on Thursday afternoon, March 19, and involved a motorcycle and a car.
Incident and emergency response
Officers were called to the scene at about 4.10pm. The collision took place on the A48 and the M4 sliproad by Coldra.
The vehicles involved were a white Triumph Trident motorcycle and a blue Audi Q8. Emergency teams from Gwent Police, the Welsh Ambulance Service, and Welsh Air Ambulance attended.
Casualty and investigation
The motorcyclist, a 61-year-old man from Newport, was taken to hospital. He was later pronounced dead.
His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers. A cordon remained in place while officers conducted collision investigation work.
The Roads Policing and Collision Investigation Unit are leading inquiries. No arrests have been made so far.

Authorities closed the A48 and the M4 sliproad at junction 24 for several hours. Motorists were advised to expect delays while emergency services worked.
