TCU Basketball Star Earns Prestigious National Honor

TCU basketball star Olivia Miles has earned a prestigious national honor. The graduate guard was named a second-team All-American by the Associated Press.

Filmogaz.com reports Miles previously earned first-team recognition from The Athletic. ESPN, The Sporting News and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association named her a second-team All-American.

Season numbers

Miles posted career-best numbers after transferring to TCU. She averaged 19.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.

She also averaged 1.8 steals while shooting 48.7 percent overall. Her three-point rate was 35.2 percent.

Team impact and awards

Miles was voted Big 12 Player of the Year. She led TCU to a second straight Big 12 regular-season title.

The Horned Frogs finished 29-5. They reached the conference tournament final before losing to West Virginia.

Historic milestones

Miles is the only college player this year with at least 600 points, 200 rebounds and 200 assists. She is one of 11 players in NCAA history with that mark.

Miles accounted for 45 percent of TCU’s offense. She ranks among national leaders in assists, with her total placing fifth nationally and her 6.4 average ranking seventh.

Teammate recognition

Graduate forward Marta Suarez received honorable mention from the Associated Press. Suarez transferred from Cal for the season.

She averaged 17.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists. Suarez shot 37.3 percent from three-point range.

If TCU advances, it will face the winner of No. 6 Washington and No. 11 South Dakota State. The next game time is to be determined.
