Skylar Jones Departs Louisville Women’s Basketball Team

Louisville will open the NCAA Tournament at noon on Saturday at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals earned a three seed and will face 14‑seed Vermont in the first round.

Roster update

Guard Skylar Jones is no longer with the Louisville program. Head coach Jeff Walz said the move was “best for all parties.”

Walz indicated the roster and rotation should remain stable. He did not expect the departure to force major changes.

Coach perspective

Walz pointed to recent games as evidence of roster depth. He noted Mackenly Randolph played all 45 minutes in the ACC final.

He also referenced teams that have relied on small rotations late in the season. The coach said the staff will use its best available players.

Skylar Jones season review

Jones arrived as an Arizona transfer and was one of three transfer additions this season. She started at Clemson on Nov. 16.

Anaya Hardy later moved into the starting lineup. Jones returned to a reserve role after that change.
