Bruno Mars Partners with Avex Music Group in Global Publishing Deal

Avex Music Group has signed Bruno Mars to a global music publishing administration agreement. The deal gives Avex exclusive administration rights over songs Mars writes during the term.

Deal details and timing

The partnership begins after Mars’s current agreement with BMG and Warner Chappell concludes. Avex operates from Tokyo and Los Angeles as the company’s global music division.

Avex’s leadership praised Mars as an influential songwriter. Company executives said they look forward to supporting his future work.

Artist momentum and recent releases

Mars released his fourth solo album, The Romantic, on February 27 via Atlantic Records. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, his first opening-week chart-topper.

He is a 16-time Grammy winner and is preparing his first full headline tour in almost ten years. The Romantic Tour is produced by Live Nation and spans 70 stadium shows across North America and Europe.

Tour schedule and sales milestones

The tour launches April 10 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. It concludes October 17 at BC Place in Vancouver.

Tickets sold 2.1 million in one day. That figure set a Live Nation single-day sales record across North America, Europe, and the UK.

  • Six nights at London’s Wembley Stadium in July.
  • Four shows each in Toronto, Amsterdam, East Rutherford (NJ), and Los Angeles.
  • Three nights in Paris, Vancouver, and Berlin.

MGM Resorts International and The Pinky Ring at Bellagio sponsor the North American dates. Anderson .Paak will join as DJ Pee .Wee on all shows, reuniting Silk Sonic.

Guest performers include Victoria Monét, RAYE, and Leon Thomas at selected stops. Mars’s prior headline tour was the 24K Magic World Tour from 2017 to 2018.

Avex’s broader strategy

The Bruno Mars publishing agreement follows Avex Music’s recent distribution deal with The Orchard. That distribution arrangement covers future releases worldwide, excluding Japan, China, and Korea.

The first music expected under the Orchard tie-up will come from We The Band. They are known as Justin Bieber’s longtime backing band.

Avex Music Group employs more than 1,500 people. The company reports annual revenues exceeding $1 billion and works in recorded music, artist management, catalog acquisitions, and live entertainment.

In October, Avex opened a New York office and created an east/west coast leadership structure. The moves form part of a wider expansion of its executive team.

Filmogaz.com reported the signing and the related company developments. The agreement marks a major publishing alignment during Mars’s current commercial resurgence.
