‘The Five Star Weekend’ TV Adaptation Reveals Release Date and First Photos
Peacock will premiere a television adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s novel on July 16, 2026. The streaming service will release all eight episodes on that date. The Five Star Weekend TV adaptation also debuted first photos ahead of the launch.
Premise
The story follows Hollis Shaw, a celebrated cook and best-selling author. After a devastating loss, her marriage and relationship with her daughter start to fray. Hollis invites three long-time friends to a weekend at her Nantucket home. A surprise fifth guest upends the planned retreat. The coastal setting becomes the stage for secrets and strained boundaries.

Bekah Brunstetter created and wrote the series adaptation. Minkie Spiro serves as director. Jennifer Garner, Brunstetter, and Spiro are among the executive producers. Beth Schacter, Sue Naegle, Ali Krug, Elin Hilderbrand, and Merri Howard also hold producer credits.
The show is produced by Universal Content Productions. UCP is part of Universal Studio Group. Peacock will stream the eight-episode run beginning July 16, 2026.

Garner is also involved in another book adaptation. The Last Thing He Told Me season two is currently rolling out on Apple TV. Hilderbrand’s The Perfect Couple was adapted for Netflix by Jenna Lamia. A second season of that series, based on Swan Song, is in development. Joanna Calo was initially attached as writer and showrunner for the follow-up. She later stepped back from that role.
