Utah Jazz Adjust Roster Ahead of Knicks Matchup

The Utah Jazz signed forward Andersson Garcia to a 10-day contract, the team announced on Tuesday, March 11. The deal was described as a short-term tryout. Per team policy, the Jazz did not disclose financial terms.

Andersson Garcia’s path to the NBA

Garcia began his college career at Mississippi State in the SEC. He played two seasons there and appeared in 44 games.

At Mississippi State he made three starts. He averaged 11.9 minutes and 3.8 points per game while shooting 55 percent from the field.

He then transferred to Texas A&M and spent three seasons with the Aggies. Garcia mostly came off the bench and averaged 23.3 minutes per game there.

Across his final college seasons he finished with 5.1 points per game. He shot 51 percent overall, grabbed 6.6 rebounds, and averaged one steal per contest.

Garcia went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft. He joined the NBA G League and played for the Mexico City Capitanes.

With Mexico City he appeared in 26 regular-season games. He averaged 11.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.6 steals while shooting 56 percent.

What the move means for Utah

The Jazz are in a rebuilding phase under head coach Will Hardy. The team has struggled for consistent wins this season.

Utah entered the week with a 20-45 record and sat 14th in the Western Conference. The club had won just two of its last 10 games.

The Jazz listed several players on the injury report for Wednesday’s game. Those names included Jusuf Nurkic, Lauri Markkanen, John Konchar, Walker Kessler, Jaren Jackson Jr., Blake Hinson, and Keyonte George.

The addition gives the roster short-term frontcourt depth. The Jazz adjust roster while they evaluate options and manage injuries.

Game and timing

Utah will host the New York Knicks at the Delta Center in downtown Salt Lake City. The matchup is scheduled to tip at 9 PM ET on Tuesday.

The team announced the signing via its communications channels and on X. Filmogaz.com will monitor further roster updates during the 10-day span.
