Men’s Golf Team Competes in Georgia Tournament
The No. 11/10 Vanderbilt men’s golf squad travels to Eatonton, Georgia this weekend. The team will play in the 20th Linger Longer Invitational at Reynolds Lake Oconee’s Great Waters Course from Friday through Sunday.
Tournament format and course
The event is co-hosted by Kennesaw State and Mercer. Teams will play one 18-hole stroke-play round each day.
The Great Waters Course measures 7,436 yards and plays to a par 72. The layout has hosted this invitational for years.
Vanderbilt lineup and tee times
Vanderbilt’s five-player lineup includes senior Wells Williams and sophomore Ryan Downes. Freshmen Michael Riebe, Jon Ed Steed and Will Hartman round out the scoring five.
- Individual entries: Chase Nevins (Jr.) and Carlos Astiazaran (Jr.).
All three tournament rounds begin at 7:30 a.m. CT on holes 1 and 10. Vanderbilt’s starters tee off between 8:15 and 8:51 a.m. CT in Round 1.
Nevins begins his first round at 9:54 a.m. CT from Hole 1. Astiazaran follows at 10:03 a.m. CT.

Eighteen teams are entered in this year’s event. The field includes several nationally ranked programs.

Vanderbilt has played this event twice before. The Commodores finished second in spring 2022 and third in 2023.
Coach’s outlook
Head coach Scott Limbaugh called the invitational a welcome return. He said the team used the break to rest and refine fundamentals.
He emphasized opportunities for players to step up. Limbaugh urged the squad to play with passion and pride for the program.
