Heartbroken Wife Honors ‘Soulmate’ Husband Killed in Chadderton Crash

A man has died following a three-car collision at the entrance to Elk Mill retail park in Chadderton. The victim has been identified as Michael “Mickey” Margetson, who lived in Oldham with his wife.

What happened

The crash occurred on Broadway at about 5.22pm on Tuesday, March 17. Emergency services sealed off the busy junction and images showed three badly damaged vehicles.

Reportedly, the cars involved included a Mercedes, a Toyota Prius and a Ford. Greater Manchester Police confirmed a man in his 50s died. Other occupants in the three vehicles suffered injuries of unspecified severity.

Family tribute

His heartbroken wife posted a public tribute on social media. She said she was at his side when he died and described him as her soulmate and best friend.

The wife asked for privacy while the family grieves. Relatives and friends also shared short messages of condolence on social platforms.
