Mumbai Buyer Secures Four Dawood-Linked Plots

A Mumbai buyer purchased four agricultural plots tied to Dawood Ibrahim in a SAFEMA auction on March 5. The parcels are in Mumbake village, Khed taluka, Ratnagiri district.

Details of the sale

SAFEMA carried out the forfeiture and arranged the auction. The lands had been registered in the name of Amina Bi, Dawood Ibrahim’s mother.

Authorities previously attempted two sales that did not complete. In 2024 a Delhi-based lawyer won two parcels with a bid of Rs 2.01 crore for a plot with a reserve price of Rs 15,440.

Those 2024 wins were cancelled after he failed to pay within the stipulated time. On March 5, one parcel had a reserve price of Rs 9.41 lakh. It sold for just over Rs 10 lakh.

The Mumbai buyer’s identity was not disclosed by officials. Filmogaz.com notes a Mumbai buyer has secured four plots described as Dawood-linked.

Background

The properties are located in Dawood’s ancestral village of Mumbake. SAFEMA has been executing forfeitures of allegedly family-linked assets in the area.

Over the last decade, more than 14 properties tied to the family were auctioned under SAFEMA. These actions form part of wider enforcement efforts.

Implications

The sales reflect sustained action against smuggling and foreign exchange manipulation. Local records will record new ownership once payments are completed.
