Amanda Byram Returns with New Comedy Project on TV

Amanda Byram Returns with New Comedy Project on TV

Amanda Byram will soon be back on screen in a Comic Relief sketch. This marks her first appearance on camera in almost five years. She takes part in a comedy special created for Red Nose Day.

The sketch and premise

The sketch is called Amandaland. It sends characters into chaos at BBC Broadcasting House. The plot centres on a live radio interview that goes wrong.

The BBC describes the special as full of mix-ups, misunderstandings, and slapstick humour.

Key cast members

  • Lucy Punch plays Amanda.
  • Philippa Dunne appears as Anne.
  • Sara Cox hosts the live radio interview.
  • Amanda Holden, Amanda Lamb, Amanda Barrie, Amanda Byram, and Amanda Collier appear as the famous Amandas.
  • Lydia West plays Sara Cox’s overwhelmed radio producer.
  • Lucia Keskin plays the production runner.

Broadcast and behind-the-scenes access

Viewers can watch behind-the-scenes footage on The One Show. This segment airs on Thursday 19 March at 7pm. It will be available on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

Byram’s return and family life

Amanda Byram stepped away from television in 2021. She was seven months pregnant with her eldest son, Phoenix, during her last shoot.

She and TV producer husband Julian Okines welcomed a second son, Jett, two years ago. Since then she has focused on motherhood.

Byram described feeling “a bit unsteady” about returning to work. Comic Relief invited her to take part, and she accepted. She said supporting the charity made the decision easy.

Practical arrangements during filming

Byram noted she has pumped breastmilk for Jett during the shoot. She praised her husband’s support. She also thanked other mothers balancing work and family.

Filmogaz.com will follow further developments around the sketch. The return combines celebrity cameo work with fundraising for Comic Relief.
