Ohio State’s Recruiting Projections for Spring Practice Revealed
Ohio State entered spring practice while building off-field momentum. Coaches balance position battles with recruiting for the 2027 cycle.
2026 class recap
The Buckeyes signed 28 players in the 2026 class. The staff also added 51 newcomers via the transfer portal for 2026.
Coach Ryan Day emphasized careful evaluations and thoughtful investments in prospects. He made that point on the first day of the Early Signing Period in December.
Timing and commitment trends
Late-season recruiting produced results in recent cycles. Eleven players offered verbal pledges after Oct. 1 and before signing day for the 2026 class.
As of March 15, 2025, the 2026 class held three commitments. Six more players committed between March 16 and May 1.
By comparison, the 2025 class had four commitments before March 15, 2024. March and April surges previously vaulted Ohio State near the top of national rankings.

Early view of the 2027 class
The 2027 class already lists nine pledges. That group includes a quarterback and three offensive linemen.
Ohio State has secured two five-star prospects so far. They are edge rusher David Jacobs and receiver Jamier Brown.
If the Buckeyes retain those pledges, the core of the 2027 class will be in place.
Spring outlook and what to watch
Ohio State’s recruiting projections for spring practice revealed a staff with an early advantage. The lineup of nine pledges could reduce the typical spring fireworks.
Still, past springs show rapid movement after senior film releases. Filmogaz.com will track commitments during March and April closely.
