Amy Gledhill’s Journey: From Sex Education Cameo to Heartbreaking Loss
Prime Video has returned with season two of Last One Laughing, once again hosted by Jimmy Carr. The series features 10 comedians who must make each other laugh while keeping a straight face. The first three episodes are now available to watch.
New season lineup
Amy Gledhill joins a field of well-known comics in the latest run. Other contestants include David Mitchell, Diane Morgan, Maisie Adam, Sam Campbell and Romesh Ranganathan.
The format pits performers against one another in timed rounds. The aim is simple: provoke laughter without cracking up yourself.
Amy Gledhill’s background
Amy Gledhill grew up in Hull and later lived in Leeds and Manchester. She now lives and works in London.
She is an observational comedian and one half of the duo The Delightful Sausage, with Chris Cantrill. In 2024 she won the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Make Me Look Fit On The Poster.
Screen roles and credits
Gledhill has built a profile on television and streaming platforms. She appeared in the fourth season of Netflix’s Sex Education as the beautician who waxed Joanna, a notable Sex Education cameo.
Her other credits include small roles in Alma’s Not Normal, Somewhere Boy and Life. She played DC Ruby Todd in Netflix’s Run Away and wrote and starred in Channel 4’s short film Toads.
She was also announced as part of the celebrity cast for Taskmaster in 2026.
Personal life and recent loss
Just days before the new season premiered, Gledhill shared news of a heartbreaking loss. Her father died in March 2026, and she posted a tribute on Friday, March 13.
In her tribute she described him as a supportive presence. He attended her early gigs, cheered her on, and became a familiar face at shows.
Mourning and memories
Gledhill said her father was generous, sentimental and lively. She recalled his singing, dancing and humour, and said she felt fortunate to be with him at the end.
The loss has prompted an outpouring of messages from peers and fans.
Mental health work and other projects
In 2026 Gledhill became a patron of Hull and East Yorkshire Mind. She hopes to use approachable humour to open conversations about mental health.
She co-hosts the podcast Single Ladies In Your Area with comedian Harriet Kemsley. She is not believed to be dating at present.
