John Fury Predicts End for Tyson Fury in Usyk Trilogy: “He’s Finished”

John Fury has warned that his son Tyson may have no chance in a proposed trilogy with Oleksandr Usyk. The 60-year-old made the comments ahead of Tyson Fury’s comeback against Arslanbek Makhmudov in April. He spoke to Filmogaz.com and used blunt language, saying “He’s Finished”.

Family rift and past incidents

John has been a visible presence in Tyson’s camp for more than a decade. He once challenged Carl Froch and clashed with a member of Usyk’s team, leaving himself injured.

He now says his relationship with Tyson is fractured. Boxing and the pressures around it are the reasons, according to John.

Concerns about form and recent setbacks

John argued that Tyson has not been the same since his wars with Deontay Wilder. He believes those fights left lasting damage and sapped Tyson’s physical edge.

He also named Arslanbek Makhmudov as a significant threat. John warned that a ring return will reveal whether Tyson still has the necessary mobility.

Age, inactivity and the Usyk factor

John highlighted Tyson’s age, noting he is 38. He added Tyson has not fought in 18 months, a timeline he called worrying.

Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson twice in 2024. Those two losses are the only defeats of Tyson’s career so far. Usyk has expressed interest in a third meeting.

On the prospect of a trilogy

John said he would not back Tyson to beat Usyk in a third fight. He argued Usyk is improving while Tyson is declining.

He warned that corner decisions matter in high-risk bouts. John fears a corner might let pride prevent them from stopping a fight early.

Health and safety warnings

John stressed the potential for lasting injury in heavyweight boxing. He warned that continuing without timely intervention can lead to brain damage or worse.

He framed his concern as both parental and practical. John insisted his priority would be Tyson’s long-term wellbeing above the spectacle of another big fight.
