“Sonic 4 Introduces Chaos Emeralds and Matt Berry”
Paramount has confirmed that filming is underway for the fourth Sonic movie. The studio released a short video to mark the production.
Chaos Emeralds return to the plot
The video hinted that Chaos Emeralds will play a key role in the new installment. The seven Chaos Emeralds date back to the original Sonic games.
They first appeared in the films during Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The emeralds featured again in Sonic 3, after the Master Emerald was used.
Franchise context
In the movies, the Master Emerald was forged by Knuckles’ echidna tribe. Its breaking allowed Sonic a gold-hued Super transformation during a past battle.
Later, Sonic summoned the Chaos Emeralds to pair with another transformation to halt the Space Colony ARK. The emeralds’ ultimate fate remains unknown after that fight.
