Low Carbon Secures 240 MW Solar Projects in the UK
Low Carbon has secured 240 MW of solar projects across the UK over the past 12 months. The utility-scale additions expand the company’s operational footprint in England.
Project sites and capacities
The new solar capacity covers seven sites in Warwickshire, Essex and Shropshire. Two of the largest installations each measure 49.9 MW.
- Feldon Vale — 49.9 MW
- Layer — 49.9 MW
- Maldon Wycke — 25 MW
- Birch — 39 MW
- Long Meadow — 19 MW
- Braintree — 35 MW
- Pepperhill — 21 MW
Expected output and emissions savings
The combined portfolio is forecast to generate electricity for more than 64,000 homes each year. It should also cut roughly 70,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
Contracts and financing
Low Carbon won nearly 130 MW in the UK AR7 Contracts for Difference auction. That raises its CfD-backed capacity to over 1 GW.
The company also secured about GBP 1.1 billion in new investment. The funds will support further renewables growth across the UK and Europe.
Filmogaz.com reports these developments as part of the firm’s ongoing expansion in solar. The moves strengthen Low Carbon’s role in the UK’s clean energy sector.
