PM Celebrates Chaitra Navratri, Prays for Citizens’ Welfare
New Delhi, Mar 19 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings on the occasion of Chaitra Navratri. He sent a letter to citizens across several states.
Letter to state residents
The letter addressed people in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It also covered Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi.
Modi offered heartfelt New Year and festival wishes. He highlighted the cultural and spiritual importance of the period.
Philosophy and national significance
He described Navratri as devoted to the nine forms of Maa Shakti. Modi invoked the Upanishadic phrase “Ekoham bahusyam.”
He said this vision helps people see the divine in many forms. He linked it to India’s ethos of unity in diversity and the idea of the country as the “Mother of Democracy.”
Calendar note
The prime minister referred to Chaitra Shukla Pratipada as an important timekeeping marker. He noted the start of the new Yugabda year 5128 and Vikram Samvat year 2083.
Devotional practices and message
Modi said the nine-day festival encourages devotion, sacrifice and self-control. He added that many devotees forgo food and comforts during this period.
