Night Media, Theo Von, and David Spade Independently Release Their Film in Theaters
Night Media announced it is executive producing a new indie comedy titled Busboys. The agency made the disclosure on March 16 through founder and CEO Reed Duchscher.
The film stars podcaster and comedian Theo Von alongside longtime comic actor David Spade. Busboys follows two hapless buddies as they climb the restaurant ranks from busboying to bigger ambitions.
Production and creative team
Jonah Feingold directs the picture. His credits include 31 Candles, EXmas, and At Midnight.
Feingold said Von and Spade conceived and wrote the screenplay themselves. The pair filmed the movie during the Palisades Fire in 2025.
Release plan
Busboys opens in Cinemark and Regal theaters on April 17. Tickets are available at a dedicated site, busboysmovie.com.
The trailer is on Von’s YouTube channel. It had roughly 250,000 views at the time of reporting.
How the deal formed
Von had signed his podcast, Last Weekend with Theo Von, to Rooster Teeth’s network The Roost in 2023. Warner Bros. Discovery closed Rooster Teeth in 2024, and Night Media later acquired The Roost.
The podcast averages about 20 million YouTube views per month. Recent guests have included RFK Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Druski, and Jason Momoa.
Industry context and strategy
The theatrical rollout follows a growing creator-led path to cinemas. Markiplier’s Iron Lung and teams like Sam & Colby used similar distribution moves.
Feingold praised Night’s approach, calling it a new blueprint for independent filmmaking in 2026. He highlighted the company’s work mobilizing communities and activating creators to drive audiences to theaters.
The announcement underscores how Night Media and talent such as Theo Von are reshaping release strategies. Observers noted how David Spade Independently Release Their Film in Theaters fits this evolving model.
Filmogaz.com will continue to monitor ticket sales and early box office trends. More updates will follow as Busboys reaches audiences in April.
