Alabama and Auburn Legends Shine in 2026 Senior Bowl Hall of Fame Class
The Senior Bowl Hall of Fame announced its 2026 class, featuring five figures spanning more than 50 years of the event. The group includes notable names tied to Alabama and Auburn football.
Overview of the Class
The inductees are Harry Agganis, Jason Campbell, Roman Harper, Anthony “Booger” McFarland and coach Norv Turner. The Hall of Fame ceremony is set for May 3 at the Grand Hotel Golf Club and Spa in Point Clear.
The class also spotlights the Senior Bowl’s Rookie of the Year honorees for the 2025 NFL season. Those awards recognize Tyler Shough, Grey Zabel and RJ Harvey for their early professional success.
Hall of Fame Inductees
Harry Agganis
Agganis starred at Boston University and played in the fourth Senior Bowl in 1953. He earned that game’s MVP and later entered the College Football Hall of Fame in 1974.
Selected 12th overall in the 1952 NFL Draft by Cleveland, Agganis chose baseball instead. He reached the majors with the Boston Red Sox and was batting .313 in 1955 when he died from a pulmonary embolism.
Jason Campbell
Campbell led Auburn to an undefeated season in 2004 and won SEC Offensive Player of the Year. He appeared in the 2005 Senior Bowl before being picked 25th in the 2005 NFL Draft.
Campbell went on to play nine seasons in the NFL before retiring. He said the Hall of Fame selection ranks among his proudest honors.
Roman Harper
Harper was an All-State performer at Prattville High School and a standout defensive back at Alabama. He played in the 2006 Senior Bowl and spent 11 seasons in the NFL.
Harper earned Pro Bowl nods in 2009 and 2010, and he played in two Super Bowls. He helped the New Orleans Saints to a 31-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.
Anthony “Booger” McFarland
McFarland starred at LSU and was a first-team All-American before playing in the 1999 Senior Bowl. He was the 15th overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft.
He enjoyed an eight-year NFL career and finished with a Super Bowl victory when the Indianapolis Colts beat the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI.
Norv Turner
Turner served as Senior Bowl head coach in 1997, 1998 and 2005, and his squads won all three games. He coached in the Senior Bowl during a long NFL career.
Turner spent 15 seasons as an NFL head coach and 13 seasons as an offensive coordinator. His résumé includes two Super Bowl titles earned while coaching with the Dallas Cowboys.
Rookies of the Year and Event Week
The Senior Bowl will also honor Tyler Shough as NFL Rookie of the Year for 2025. Grey Zabel is the NFC Rookie of the Year, and RJ Harvey is the AFC Rookie of the Year.
The week includes the sixth annual Senior Bowl Charities Celebrity Golf Classic on May 4. The tournament at Lakewood Golf Club pairs more than 20 foursomes with football celebrities and inductees.
Charitable Impact
Proceeds from the golf event support the Mobile Baldwin Athletic Partnership. Launched in 2021, the program supplies gear and resources to underfunded public high school football programs in the two-county area.
Remarks from the Senior Bowl
Drew Fabianich, the Senior Bowl’s executive director, welcomed the 2026 class. He called it meaningful to honor players and coaches who helped shape the Senior Bowl’s tradition.
