Lions Sign Greg Dortch to Replace Kalif Raymond: Reports
The Detroit Lions announced Wednesday evening they reached a one-year deal with wide receiver Greg Dortch. Reports say the move is aimed at replacing the role previously filled by Kalif Raymond.
Player profile and career path
Dortch entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He is 27 years old.
He first signed with the New York Jets. He then had brief stops with the Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Rams, and Atlanta Falcons.
Dortch landed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2021 and spent multiple seasons there. That stint provided his most consistent NFL playing time.
Statistical résumé
- 145 career receptions for 1,310 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns.
- 75 kick returns for 1,773 yards.
- 99 punt returns for 886 yards.
Those numbers reflect both offensive snaps and special teams value. His return work has been a consistent contribution.
Connection to Lions coaching staff
Dortch previously worked under new Lions offensive coordinator Drew Petzing. Petzing served as the Cardinals’ offensive coordinator from 2023 to 2025, according to reports.
Under Petzing, Dortch averaged roughly 220 receiving yards per season. That familiarity could ease his integration into the Detroit offense.
Role expectations
The Lions view Dortch as a potential successor to Kalif Raymond’s role. His speed and return experience fit special teams and slot duties.
Filmogaz.com reported the signing and framed it as a targeted, low-risk addition. The one-year contract gives the team roster flexibility.
