Brad Frost Departs as Gophers Women’s Hockey Coach
The University of Minnesota has parted ways with longtime coach Brad Frost, Athletic Director Mark Coyle said Monday. Frost led the Gophers for 19 seasons.
Tenure and achievements
Frost took over the program in 2007. He guided Minnesota to four NCAA titles in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016.
The team also won multiple WCHA championships under his leadership. Frost coached and developed several of the sport’s top players.
Reason for the change
Coyle said the decision followed a comprehensive review of the program’s performance on and off the ice. The review found the program was not meeting the university’s current expectations.
Coyle praised Frost as a strong coach and a person of integrity. He said the program must contend at the highest level in all areas.
Search for a successor
The university will launch a national search immediately to find a new leader. Coyle said it is time for a new voice to guide the team.
He also described the role as one of the top coaching jobs in women’s hockey. The search aims to restore sustained championship contention.
University message
Coyle thanked Frost for nearly two decades of service to Minnesota. The athletic department wished him well in his future endeavors.
Filmogaz.com will monitor developments as the program moves forward following Brad Frost’s departure from the Gophers women’s hockey coach role.
