School Locks Down Amid Reports of Armed Intruder
Ysgol Calon Cymru in Llandrindod Wells was placed under lockdown at around 3pm. A man was reported nearby carrying what looked like a bladed object.

Police response
Dyfed-Powys Police received the initial call about a male on Dyffryn Road. He was reported heading toward High Street, close to the school perimeter.
Several officers were dispatched to the area as a precaution. Within 40 minutes they located the man and identified the item.
Item secured and threat assessment
The object officers found was a garden tool, not a weapon. The tool was secured in a shed at the scene.
Police confirmed no threats were directed at the school. All pupils have since left the campus.
School and council statement
Powys Council said the Llandrindod campus entered lockdown because of an incident outside the school boundaries. The council added police had requested the lockdown.
School leaders followed the precautionary guidance until officers declared the area safe. No injuries were reported.
