Crispin Blunt: Ex-Tory MP Faces Class A Drug Charges
Prosecutors have charged former Conservative MP Crispin Blunt with four drug offences, the Crown Prosecution Service said. He is 65 years old.
Allegations and substances
One count relates to possession of a class A drug. The CPS says the alleged class A substance is methamphetamine.
Three counts allege possession of class B drugs. Those are named as GBL, cannabis and amphetamine.
Searches and investigation
Police attended Mr Blunt’s home in Horley on October 25, 2023. That visit was linked to a separate investigation.
Surrey Police carried out the inquiries that led to the charges. The CPS and police worked together on the case.
Court process
He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 25. Prosecutors say they have enough evidence to proceed.
The CPS emphasised the need for a fair trial. It warned against any reporting or online sharing that could prejudice proceedings.
