Sunny Skies and Cold Temperatures Dominate a Calm Wednesday
Morning breezes will push wind chills into the low teens and single digits in some northern areas.
Daytime conditions
High pressure will slide across Southern New England and keep the day mostly sunny.
The high sun angle will help temperatures climb slowly into the mid and upper 30s across Boston and southern areas.
Sun, wind and feel
Winds will ease as the day progresses, creating a calm Wednesday afternoon for many.
Even with cold temperatures aloft, the sun will feel noticeable around midday.
Nighttime and aurora chances
Skies should be partly to mostly clear Wednesday night.
This will open a window for Northern Lights sightings in northern New England if they appear.
Nighttime lows will fall into the teens and low 20s north of Massachusetts.
Greater Boston can expect temperatures below freezing after 8 p.m.
Late-week storm outlook
A system approaching Friday night into Saturday may bring accumulating snow to ski country.
Forecasts remain preliminary and could change over the coming days.
Current guidance favors a quick snow burst north, with rain likely for the southern coast.
Expected totals
- Northern New England: 2 to 4 inches possible.
- North of Route 2 in Massachusetts: a coating to one inch possible.
- Greater Boston: brief wintry mix then a change to rain.
