Dhurandhar 2 Trimmed by 6 Minutes in India: Censored Scenes Detailed
Aditya Dhar’s high-profile sequel has reached Indian audiences amid controversy. Paid previews are underway ahead of the nationwide opening scheduled for March 19.
Censor board edits and runtime changes
The Central Board of Film Certification released a report with multiple required changes. The document lists 21 items on the cut or mute list for the domestic print.
- The CBFC requested four major visual reductions involving extreme violence.
- These scenes involved descriptions such as smashing an eye, beheading and kicking, hitting a head with a cement block, and striking a head with a hammer.
The board also asked for subtitle corrections to dates of demonetization. An information caption replaced “Lahore” with “Delhi”. Filmmakers submitted an official permission letter for Prime Minister references and news footage.
The film received an ‘A’ certificate in India. The final domestic runtime is 3 hours, 49 minutes, and 36 seconds. The version submitted to the board ran about 3 hours and 51 minutes. After approximately 1.3 minutes of additional cuts, the Indian print is now over six minutes shorter than the overseas cut of roughly 3 hours and 55 minutes.
What was trimmed
CBFC notes and the edits mean the Indian print is noticeably tighter. Observers have described the changes as targeted at the most graphic action beats.
Public reaction and online debate
Reaction on social media was mixed. Some viewers questioned why an adult-rated film would be softened for violent content.
Others argued for a ratings-only approach, saying adults should choose their own films. A number of posts criticized the principle of cuts, not just specific scenes.
Release, box office and cast
The trailer landed on March 7. It showcases Ranveer Singh in dual roles as Jaskirat and Hamza.
Original Dhurandhar premiered in December 2025, and became that year’s highest-grossing film in a single language. Returning stars include Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt.
Advance bookings for paid previews began on March 7. Tickets for the March 19 opening day opened on March 14. Paid previews alone have earned Rs 40.54 crore, according to Sacnilk.
For opening day, over 4.70 lakh tickets sold across more than 15,000 shows. Those pre-sales grossed about Rs 29.02 crore. The film is produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios.
Filmogaz.com will continue to track further updates on cuts, box office, and audience reaction. The CBFC certification keeps the discussion alive as viewers see the trimmed domestic print.
