Jaÿ-Z Headlines 2026 Roots Picnic, First Announcement Made
Jaÿ-Z headlines 2026 Roots Picnic.
He will close the first night with The Roots on May 30 at Belmont Plateau.
Event details and venue move
The festival marks its 20th edition and runs May 30 and 31, 2026.
Organizers moved the event to Belmont Plateau, about a mile from the Mann Center.
Initial lineup and ticketing
Organizers released a limited list in the first announcement made this week.
That notice named only Jaÿ-Z and The Roots. Remaining performers are expected later this week.
Tickets go on sale Wednesday, March 18, at 10 a.m. at RootsPicnic.com.
Management and city collaboration
Roots manager Shawn Gee runs the event through Live Nation Urban.
He described the venue change and the Jaÿ-Z booking as long-held ambitions. City leaders helped shape the plans.
Gee acknowledged Mayor Cherelle Parker, Parks and Recreation commissioner Susan Slawson, and events director Janelle Jones.
Roc Nation and festival history
Roc Nation produced the Made in America festival from 2012 through 2022.
Jaÿ-Z curated the event and headlined in 2012 and 2017. He also booked Beyoncé in 2013 and 2015.
Made in America was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, then resumed for two years.
Plans for 2023 were canceled a month before the event. There were no editions in 2024 or 2025.
Roc Nation has not formally announced the festival’s end.
The Roots and past collaborations
The Roots have previously backed Jay-Z, most famously on a 2001 live album.
They remain a central Philadelphia hip-hop presence and a well-known late-night house band.
Name styling and anniversary questions
Jaÿ-Z added an umlaut over the “y” earlier this year. That styling also appeared on his 1996 releases.
2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt. Fans are asking if he will tour the album or release new work.
His last solo album was 4:44, released in 2017.
Full lineup details should arrive later this week. Filmogaz.com will provide updates as they come.
