Starfield Coming to PS5 on 7th April as Composer Says It Will ‘Become Something That Will Be Legendary’
starfield will arrive on PlayStation 5 on 7th April, bringing the game’s post-launch updates, a new expansion and platform-specific features to PlayStation players. The announcement comes as the game’s composer, Inon Zur, argued the title will eventually be recognized as “legendary. “
Starfield Arrives on PlayStation 5 on 7th April
The PlayStation 5 release is timed with a major update that includes the Free Lanes feature and the Terran Armada expansion, both launching on 7th April. The PS5 version will include the quality-of-life improvements made since the game’s initial release, and is positioned to match the experience available on Xbox Series X and PC, with a few technical differences expected.
Free Lanes, Terran Armada, Pricing and Platform Features
The Free Lanes update introduces Cruise Mode, allowing players to fly between planets within a system rather than jumping directly between destinations. The broader update package also brings endgame upgrades with X-Tech, additional Outpost options, two new companions and a Moon Jumper vehicle. The new pricing structure sets the base edition at $49. 99 across PS5, Xbox Series and PC, while the Premium Edition is priced at $69. 99 and bundles the Shattered Space content from 2024 with the Terran Armada expansion.
PlayStation 5-specific integration will include DualSense features such as the lightbar, adaptive triggers and touchpad functionality. For PlayStation 5 Pro owners, a Pro Performance Mode will offer a choice between higher target frame rates or a Pro Visual Mode.
Composer Inon Zur Stands By the Game’s Long-Term Potential
Composer Inon Zur, who worked on the game’s soundtrack, said the project will grow in stature over time. In an interview that was done on a call and slightly edited for clarity, he described the game’s creator as a visionary and said, “Starfield will eventually become something that will be legendary. ” He argued that early reactions reflected people not being ready for the vision and that persistence will lead to broader appreciation.
Zur’s career includes composing for several major role-playing titles and he noted the director’s approach to allowing creative freedom while steering work toward a clear vision. He suggested that, historically, visionary projects sometimes take time before they are fully understood and valued.
Where Starfield Stands and What Changes Aim to Fix
At launch, the game faced criticism for repetitive generated planet spaces outside main cities and for star navigation that functioned more like fast travel than an exploratory flow. Shattered Space aimed to reintroduce a more classical narrative focus within a single location. The Free Lanes update and Terran Armada expansion are framed as further moves to expand the game’s sci-fi elements and address earlier shortcomings, while bringing the title to PlayStation 5 will open it to a larger audience.
With the PS5 release scheduled for 7th April and multiple updates arriving alongside it, the next months will show whether the new features and expansions shift perceptions and broaden the game’s appeal.
