The Chicago Blackhawks have signed forward sacha boisvert to a three-year, entry-level contract that begins immediately and carries a $974, 167 average annual value through the 2027-28 season.
Sacha Boisvert: Contract and Immediate Status
The three-year entry-level deal runs through the 2027-28 season with a $974, 167 salary cap hit. The contract takes effect immediately, though it has yet to be reported when sacha boisvert will make his NHL debut. The signing makes him the second member of the Boston University Terriers to ink an entry-level contract this week; defenseman Cole Hutson signed with another NHL team earlier in the same span.
College, Junior Record And Draft Position
Boisvert, 19, appeared in 26 games with Boston University in the 2025-26 season, producing 17 points on 3 goals and 14 assists. He matched a collegiate career high in assists and ranked third on the team in that category. Across his collegiate career split between Boston University and the University of North Dakota, he played 63 NCAA games and totaled 49 points from 21 goals and 28 assists.
As a freshman with North Dakota, Boisvert posted 32 points in 37 games and earned NCHC Rookie of the Year honors and a place on the NCHC All-Rookie Team. Before college, he compiled 113 points (53 goals, 60 assists) in 118 regular-season USHL games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks, including a season of 68 points in 61 games that earned him Third-Team All-Star recognition. Chicago selected him in the first round, 18th overall, of the 2024 NHL Draft.
Remaining Questions: Debut Timing And Transition
While the contract is finalized and in effect immediately, questions remain about when Boisvert will appear in an NHL game. He finished his college season following Boston University’s elimination in the Hockey East quarterfinals, and the club has not announced a timeline for his debut. Coverage of the signing has also noted that he may need to complete a visa process before joining the team in North America, a step that could affect how quickly he reports.
Boisvert’s 2025-26 season included challenges: a reduced scoring pace compared with his freshman year and at least one healthy scratch late in the season tied to lateness for a team workout. Still, his body of work at the junior and collegiate levels — including a high-output USHL season and a decorated freshman campaign — underpins Chicago’s decision to begin his professional career now.
Moving forward, the Blackhawks will integrate Boisvert into the organization while balancing roster needs and any administrative steps required for him to play. The team’s schedule and depth chart will determine when the 19-year-old center will take the ice in Blackhawks colors.
