Musician Labrinth Says He’s ‘Done With This Industry’ and Hits Out at Euphoria
Musician Labrinth has distanced himself from the TV series euphoria and announced he is “done with this industry” in a blunt Instagram post that also attacked Columbia Records. The composer’s message and a subsequent online release of an unreleased track have intensified questions about his relationship with the show as its new season approaches.
Instagram Post and Retirement Message
Labrinth shared a heated message on Instagram on March 12, writing, “I’m done with this industry. F–k Columbia. Double f–k Euphoria. I’m out. Thank you and good night x. ” He also used the shorter line “I’m out. Thank you and good night” in a social post that was widely circulated. The composer did not disclose a detailed reason for his announcement in the message.
Euphoria, Zimmer and Season Three Tensions
The composer wrote the score and several songs for the first two series of the show and won an Emmy for the song “All For Us. ” Last year, the broadcaster recruited Hans Zimmer to work on the forthcoming third season alongside Labrinth. Labrinth previously welcomed Zimmer’s involvement, and Zimmer had praised Labrinth’s contributions to the show’s musical identity. It is not clear whether Labrinth’s music for the third season still features in the new episodes. The eight-episode third series is set to launch on 12 April, and the creator of the show recently teased footage at a public appearance where Labrinth also appeared.
Unreleased Track, Peer Support and Unanswered Questions
Following his retirement announcement and critique of euphoria and his record label, Labrinth released an unreleased track on the internet. Fellow musicians responded to his Instagram message with expressions of support; commenters included well-known artists who encouraged him to look after his peace. Neither Columbia Records nor the broadcaster have publicly commented on the dispute in the immediate aftermath of Labrinth’s post.
With the new season’s launch approaching, the situation remains fluid. The composer’s public withdrawal and the appearance of previously unreleased material add new uncertainty about how the show’s soundtrack will be handled as the series moves forward.
