Teyana Taylor caused a stir on arrival, appearing in thigh-high leather boots paired with a technicolor shearling coat that had debuted in Matthieu Blazy’s Paris outing five days earlier. The singer-actor’s runway-aware styling was noted among the arrivals as cameras and guests clustered in the courtyard.
A Star-Studded Guest List and a Packed Courtyard
By 8: 30 pm ET, the courtyard outside the Polo Lounge was so packed with celebrities that movement was limited. Jessie Buckley arrived in celeste blue and jade and was described as radiating joy; Rose Byrne, fresh from a pool day, wore feathers and mentioned hiking Runyon Canyon. The crowd included Nicole Kidman, Jeff and Lauren Bezos, Ted Sarandos, Al Pacino, Maya Rudolph, Jessica Alba, Elle Fanning, Kristen Stewart, Gracie Abrams, Lily-Rose Depp, Sigourney Weaver, Jeff Goldblum, John Mulaney, Olivia Munn, Javier Bardem, Meg Ryan, Ethan Hawke, Ava DuVernay, Harvey Keitel, Leslie Mann with Judd Apatow and their daughter Maude, and Mick Jagger, for whom fans waited outside with posters.
Finch, Chanel and the Dinner’s Longstanding Tradition
Charles Finch has hosted a pre-Academy Awards dinner for more than three decades and has co-hosted the evening with Chanel since 2009; the event moved to the Polo Lounge in 2019. Even a bout of kidney stones did not convince Finch to cancel the Saturday night shindig, which he has continued to stage as a convivial, celebrity-filled kickoff to Oscars weekend. White-jacketed waiters passed trays of small plates and cocktails as the group moved inside for a seated dinner over Champagne and cocktails.
The gathering underscored the event’s mix of fashion, friendship and industry presence, with Chanel’s young ambassadors and long-time Chanel allies appearing alongside film and music figures. Guests circulated through the courtyard before taking seats for the evening’s dinner service.
