Nicole Kidman is having one of the most eventful years of her career — and her personal life. The 58-year-old Oscar winner is presenting at tonight's Academy Awards, launching a new Prime Video series, preparing for two major film roles, and doing it all as a newly single woman for the first time in nearly two decades.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Divorce
Kidman spoke openly about her turbulent 2025, when she filed for divorce from country star Keith Urban after a 19-year marriage. She told Variety that the deeply personal situation forced her into a kind of retreat: "Last year, I was quiet. I had other things going on. I was in my shell."
Kidman and Urban, both 58, separated in September 2025. Their divorce was finalized in January 2026. Under the custody agreement, daughters Sunday, 17, and Faith, 15, will live with Kidman for most of the year and spend time with Urban every other weekend.
Kidman said she is focused entirely on family stability: "Everything else I don't discuss out of respect. I'm staying in a place of, 'We are a family,' and that's what we'll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women."

With the Oscars just hours away, Kidman revealed her pre-show ritual: "This is crazy but I will go to church in the morning. It just centers me. It's what I do on a Sunday." She is serving as a presenter tonight and attended the Chanel pre-Oscars dinner at the Beverly Hills Hotel last night. Her daughters were at the dinner but will not attend the ceremony itself.
Scarpetta on Prime Video — Out This Week
Kidman stars as hardened medical examiner Kay Scarpetta in the screen adaptation of Patricia Cornwell's long-running book series, streaming now on Prime Video. It is one of four major projects she has lined up for 2026, a year she is approaching with unmistakable energy: "2026. Here we go."
Practical Magic 2, Lioness Season 3, and More
This fall, Kidman returns alongside Sandra Bullock in Practical Magic 2, a sequel nearly 30 years in the making that reunites the pair as sister witches. She is also filming season three of Taylor Sheridan's Lioness and will close out the year with a supporting role in a new horror film from director Osgood Perkins.

At the 2026 Met Gala on May 4, Kidman will serve as co-chair alongside Beyoncé, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour — her third time in the co-chair role after 2003 and 2005. She announced on the Las Culturistas podcast that her date will be daughter Sunday Rose. "To do it now, I'm so, so happy — and my daughter Sunday will be coming."
Sunday has made a name for herself in the modeling world, walking the Dior Fall/Winter 2026-2027 runway at Paris Fashion Week on March 3. Kidman said Sunday is "flying back from Paris now." The 2026 Met Gala theme is "Costume Art."
