Joe Lunardi Bracketology — Final Projections Before the Reveal
Duke has won 21 of its last 22 games including the ACC Championship, propelling the Blue Devils to the projected No. 1 overall seed. Big 12 Tournament champion Arizona, Michigan, and Florida are also projected as No. 1 seeds in Lunardi's final Bracketology.
Florida suffered a 91-74 loss to Vanderbilt in the SEC Tournament, but was still projected as the final No. 1 seed. For bubble teams, Lunardi listed Oklahoma, Auburn, San Diego State, and New Mexico as the First Four Out. Missouri, Miami (OH), SMU, and Texas were listed as the Last Four In the 68-team field.
Projected No. 1 Seeds — 2026 NCAA Bracket
| Seed | Team | Region | Conference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Overall | Duke | East | ACC Champions |
| No. 1 | Michigan | Midwest | Big Ten |
| No. 1 | Arizona | West | Big 12 Champions |
| No. 1 | Florida | South | SEC |
Bubble Teams Sweating It Out Right Now
SMU, Texas, Oklahoma, and Auburn are all waiting anxiously to hear their names called during the Selection Show. UConn slipped to the No. 2 seed line after losing two of its final four games, including a 20-point blowout loss to St. John's in the Big East Championship Game.
Oklahoma closed the year on a high note, winning six of its last seven games, but a 19-15 overall record could keep the Sooners out of March Madness. Auburn will attempt to clinch an at-large bid largely on the strength of having the third-toughest strength of schedule in the country, though a 17-16 record and 3-9 mark over their final 12 games may be too much to overcome.
NCAA Bracket 2026 — Vanderbilt Enters as a 4-Seed
Vanderbilt, coming off its stunning 91-74 win over Florida in the SEC Tournament Semifinals, is projected as a No. 4 seed in the East Region, matched up against No. 13 Northern Iowa in the first round. The Commodores enter March Madness with serious momentum — Duke, Michigan, Arizona, and Florida headline the top line when the bracket is officially revealed at 6:00 PM ET tonight.
