Design, Trim Levels and Planned Lineup Expansion
The styling and cabin have prompted mixed reactions. The iX3 is smaller and slimmer than the standard X3 and replaces the large-grille era with vertical kidney grilles and a slimmer front end that some find divisive. BMW offers three trim levels at launch—standard, M Sport, and M Sport Pro—each with features such as electric seats, adaptive cruise, a 40-inch projected display behind the windscreen, and 20-inch alloy wheels. Interior appointments include a 17. 9-inch central touchscreen, a new steering wheel design, and a Panoramic Vision 3D head-up display. BMW intends to broaden the iX3 range beyond the launch 50 xDrive. A more affordable 40 variant is slated to reach Europe by the end of the year in single- and dual-motor configurations with smaller battery options and lower price positioning. Long-wheelbase versions (internal codename NA6) will expand availability beyond the Chinese market to regions including India, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Performance-focused M badged models are in view, with the iX3 M60 and a full-fat M model previewed through M Performance Parts, and an entry-level 30L is a possibility for China. BMW is also moving forward with other Neue Klasse models, with an i3 sedan (internal codename NA0) set to debut before production starts later in the year in Munich.
