Tyler Tardi Parts Ways With Kevin Koe’s Team as McEwen Confirms Saskatchewan Rink Moving On Without Him

tyler tardi is leaving Team Kevin Koe for next season after deciding to pursue other curling opportunities, and the sport saw a separate shakeup when skip Mike McEwen said the Saskatoon-based rink will go forward without him.

Tyler Tardi Leaves Kevin Koe’s Team

Team Kevin Koe announced Friday on social media that Tardi has “decided to pursue other curling opportunities. ” The team said it is grateful for everything he brought and wished him the best in the next chapter of his curling career.

tyler tardi joined Koe at third in 2022 and helped the Alberta-based club capture its first Grand Slam of Curling title that season at the 2023 Players’ Championship. The Calgary-based lineup, which also features second Aaron Sluchinski and lead Karrick Martin, earned silver at the Montana’s Brier this past weekend in St. John’s, N. L., falling 6-3 to Manitoba’s Matt Dunstone after going undefeated through earlier rounds.

In addition to his role with Koe, Tardi served as the alternate for Brad Jacobs’s team on several international podiums, earning bronze at the 2025 World Men’s Curling Championship, gold at the 2025 Pan Continental Curling Championships, and Olympic gold at Milano Cortina 2026. The 27-year-old, born in Richmond, B. C., and living in Calgary, previously skipped Canada to back-to-back gold medals at the 2018 and 2019 World Junior Curling Championships.

Skip Mike McEwen Announces Saskatchewan Rink Will Continue Without Him

In a separate development, Mike McEwen said the Saskatoon-based team of Colton Flasch, Kevin Marsh and Daniel Marsh will move on without him after three seasons. McEwen wrote that “the team has chosen a different path without me next season” and that he had “dug deep and gave it everything. ” The official announcement appeared on social media on Thursday afternoon.

McEwen, a Manitoba product who served as the team’s import, noted his gratitude for the support he received in Saskatchewan and added, “I may be getting older, but the fire’s still very much there. The rocks don’t seem to care. ” After joining the Saskatchewan squad for the 2023-24 season, he skipped the team to a provincial championship in 2024, earning the right to represent Saskatchewan at the Brier in Regina.

Both moves were framed as decisions affecting the next season: Tardi is moving on to pursue other opportunities, and McEwen said the team has chosen a different path. The departures close notable chapters for two high-profile rinks ahead of the upcoming season and leave each team to outline new lineups in the months to come.
