Virgin River Season 7 Is Now Streaming — Marco Grazzini Is Out, and Season 8 Makes Netflix History
Two days in and Virgin River Season 7 is already delivering the drama — on screen and off. The new season dropped March 12 on Netflix, and within hours, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith confirmed what fans had quietly feared: Marco Grazzini is leaving the series. He won't be back for Season 8.
Season 7 Landed March 12 — and Ended on Multiple Cliffhangers
Virgin River Season 7 landed on Netflix on March 12, 2026, and for fans already mid-binge, it's time to start thinking about what comes next. The season closed with the kind of multi-thread finale the show has made its signature — Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth) crashed his motorcycle in the final seconds, leaving his fate unresolved heading into Season 8.
With Season 7, Virgin River has now reached 74 episodes. That's not a milestone the show hit quietly.
Marco Grazzini Exits After Six Seasons — Grazzini Speaks
Marco Grazzini, who has been on the Netflix romantic drama for five seasons, the last four as a series regular, is leaving after Season 7. "He's not coming back for Season 8," showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told Deadline.
Grazzini, for his part, did not go quietly or bitterly. "Character departures are very common in this business — especially on a long-running and beloved series like Virgin River," he said. "It's been a wonderful opportunity to play Mike for six seasons. I have nothing but love for the cast, crew, and especially the phenomenal fans. I'm excited for this new chapter in my career."
His character Mike Valenzuela was last seen in the Season 7 finale getting close with Victoria (Sara Canning), a visiting medical investigator who had confessed a long-held crush on him. The show gave him an exit that left a door open — even if Season 8 won't walk through it.
The departure from the source novels was deliberate. In Robyn Carr's books, Mike and Brie are the definitive endgame. The series pivoted away from that. Grazzini said he found out the direction change script-by-script, noting that Brie and Brady had immediate on-screen chemistry when she arrived in Season 3, and the showrunners followed it.
Lauren Hammersley Also Out — Two Exits in One Season
Smith also announced that Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley), who went missing in the Season 6 finale, won't be returning in Season 8. Hammersley has been playing Charmaine for the entire seven-season run — a series regular for the first four seasons and recurring thereafter.
Both departures land in a single season. That matches the total number of series regular exits across the show's first six seasons combined, with Grayson Gurnsey leaving after Season 4. Smith told Deadline both actors could return in future seasons — but made no commitments.
Season 8: Netflix History, New Cast, Filming Starts April
This will be the very first time a Netflix original scripted series — not including children's programming — has made it to Season 8. Grace and Frankie and Orange Is the New Black both fell short of that mark.
Filming resumes in April in Vancouver and is set to wrap in August, with Season 8 likely arriving sometime in 2027. The season will again run 10 episodes.
New Season 7 additions Cody Kearsley as Clay and Austin Nichols as Eli are confirmed to continue into Season 8. Clay's storyline searching for his missing sister carries forward, and Eli will make at least one more appearance.
Smith was direct about the calculus behind the cast changes. "For me, I'm just trying to look to the longevity of the show and making sure that the characters that we're keeping have enough story engine in them," he said. Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson return as Mel and Jack — the show's irreplaceable center.
Virgin River Season 7 is streaming now on Netflix. All 10 episodes are available.
