Shooter in Rihanna’s Home Incident Faces Attempted Murder Charges

On March 8, Ivana Lisette Ortiz was arrested for firing shots at Rihanna’s Beverly Hills residence. The incident involved an AR-15-style weapon. Following her arrest, the 35-year-old’s social media posts referencing the singer were revealed, raising concerns about her intentions.

Details of the Charges Against Ortiz

Prosecutors have filed a criminal complaint against Ortiz, describing the act as “willful, deliberate, and premeditated.” This charge of attempted murder is compounded by several additional counts:

  • 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm
  • 3 counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper

Currently, Ortiz is being held on a bail set at $1.875 million. Investigators noted that although a bullet penetrated the walls of Rihanna’s home, no individuals were harmed during the event. This includes Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their three children, her mother, and two other staff members present at the time.

Legal Proceedings

During her court appearance on March 10, Ortiz’s legal representation from the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office entered a “not guilty” plea. However, they later chose to postpone the arraignment until March 25, withdrawing the initial plea.

If convicted, Ortiz faces the possibility of life in prison due to the severity of the charges. This incident has heightened discussions regarding celebrity safety and the implications of threats against public figures.
