iPhone Fold Introduces iPad-Style Multitasking and Layouts
Apple is set to launch its highly anticipated foldable smartphone, the iPhone Fold, this September. The device represents a hybrid between the iPhone and iPad, featuring an innovative user interface inspired by the iPad’s multitasking capabilities.
Multitasking and Layout Features of the iPhone Fold
When opened, the iPhone Fold will offer an iPad-style layout. This includes support for multitasking with two applications displayed side-by-side. Unlike previous iPhone models, which limited users to simple picture-in-picture modes, this device provides a more robust interface.

Such enhancements will enable users to perform tasks similar to those typically done on an iPad. The iPhone Fold will feature a wider design with a 4:3 aspect ratio, differentiating it from its competitors.

When closed, the iPhone Fold will resemble a conventional iPhone, complete with a display that functions as a standard smartphone. This display will host apps and incorporate a hole-punch front-facing camera for selfies. However, it will lack Face ID capabilities.
Instead of Face ID, the device will utilize a fingerprint sensor integrated within the power button. While the camera section will include Dynamic Island features for live activities and notifications, it will not support the TrueDepth system.
Camera System and Performance
The iPhone Fold’s rear will house dual cameras, avoiding a triple-lens setup due to space limitations. Although Apple experimented with an under-display camera, the quality did not meet expectations, leading to the decision for a visible hole-punch camera.
Software and Pricing
The iPhone Fold will operate on iOS rather than iPadOS, which means it won’t support the full suite of multitasking features associated with the iPad. Furthermore, existing iPadOS applications will not be compatible with this device.
With a price tag projected around $2,000, the iPhone Fold is expected to be the priciest model in Apple’s 2026 lineup, appealing to consumers seeking advanced multitasking capabilities in a foldable format.
