Tip-off is minutes away. The Cleveland Cavaliers (40-25) travel to Orlando's Kia Center tonight for a high-stakes Eastern Conference clash against the Magic (35-28), with the game getting underway at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Cleveland enters as a 3.5-point road favorite — and with a 2-0 series lead this season that was built entirely on stopping Paolo Banchero.

The Harden-Mitchell Machine

This isn't the same Cavaliers team Orlando faced at the start of the season. Since acquiring James Harden, Cleveland has gone 9-2 in games he's started, with the former MVP averaging 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists in his new role. The fit alongside Donovan Mitchell has been immediate.

Mitchell is putting up 28.4 points and 5.8 assists per game — a career-high scoring season — and has been absolutely surgical against Orlando specifically, averaging 40.5 points across the two prior meetings this year. In the most recent matchup on January 26, Harden dropped a game-high 21 points and Keon Ellis added 19 off the bench in a 115-101 blowout.

Evan Mobley continues to anchor the defense, posting three blocks in each of his last two starts and four or more blocks in four separate games in 2026. His individual battles with Banchero have gone squarely Cleveland's way this season.

Orlando's Best Shot — And Its Injuries

The Magic are playing their best basketball of the year. Since the All-Star break, Banchero has been averaging 26.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.7 assists — and in the season series against Cleveland specifically, he's averaging 32.0 points per game. None of it has been enough to beat the Cavs yet.

Franz Wagner remains out with a high ankle sprain, and Anthony Black is sidelined with an abdominal strain. The depth Orlando needs to keep pace with Cleveland's offense is exactly what the injury report is taking away. The Magic lead the NBA in free throws made per game at 21.4 — their preferred method of slowing games down and putting opposing stars in foul trouble. Getting Mobley or Harden into early foul trouble is the blueprint.

Injury Report and Key Absences

For Cleveland: Jarrett Allen is out with a knee issue, Tyrese Proctor is out with a quad injury. For Orlando: Franz Wagner is out, Anthony Black is out, with Jase Richardson and Jonathan Isaac listed as questionable.

Allen's absence is the biggest factor. Without him anchoring the paint, Orlando gets more interior opportunities for Banchero — which is exactly the kind of adjustment that could close a gap Cleveland has dominated all season.

What to Watch

Cleveland wants to push the pace, hunt three-pointers in transition, and use the Harden-Mitchell pick-and-roll to break down Orlando's half-court defense. Orlando wants the opposite — a grind, a physical game at the rim, and free throws.

This could be a first-round playoff preview. The Cavaliers lead the season series 2-0 by a combined 30 points. Both games were decided well before the final buzzer. Mitchell is projected to score 27 points tonight, with six Cleveland players expected to finish in double figures. Banchero will need his best performance of the season series to change the story.

Tip-off from the Kia Center in Orlando is at 7:30 p.m. ET. Live on ESPN.
