Rabbit is developing an innovative device known as Project Cyberdeck, aimed at revolutionizing the netbook concept for modern coding needs. The initiative began after CEO Jesse Lyu observed the growing reliance of software engineers on Claude Code.
What is Project Cyberdeck?
Project Cyberdeck represents Rabbit’s vision for a compact computer designed specifically for “vibe coding.” Lyu’s dissatisfaction with existing low-cost PCs—typically equipped with subpar rubber dome keyboards—prompted the decision to create a specialized device. The challenge was to design a netbook-style computer that would enhance the user experience while being fully functional on the go.
Inspirational Roots
Rabbit drew inspiration from the Sony Vaio P, a netbook that was briefly available between 2009 and 2010. Weighing only 1.4 pounds, it was touted as the world’s lightest netbook but came with various drawbacks.

Although the specifications are still evolving, Rabbit is focused on creating a powerful yet affordable device that won’t compromise on performance when interfacing with servers from Anthropic and OpenAI.
Operating System and Features
Project Cyberdeck will run on Linux, providing users the freedom to modify the operating system and install third-party applications. The device will feature:
- A 40 percent mechanical keyboard with customizable switches
- A potential 7-inch OLED touchscreen offering a 165Hz refresh rate and 815 nits brightness
The OLED technology promises improved battery life since individual diodes emit light without requiring extensive backlighting.
Market Outlook
Despite current global challenges in sourcing components and the rising costs of memory, Rabbit is optimistic about launching the Cyberdeck before 2026. Lyu emphasized that past successes should position the company well for timely delivery:
