Mega Man is set to return with a new installment titled “Mega Man: Dual Override.” However, the beloved character will have a different voice actor as Ben Diskin has announced his exit from the role.

Diskin shared a detailed statement on social media regarding his departure. He revealed that while Capcom sought his return for the game, it came with certain conditions that he found unacceptable.

Concerns Over Union Contracts

Capcom proposed that Diskin return without the protections that a union contract provides. Diskin expressed concerns about the implications of this decision, especially given the current climate surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) in the industry.

He stated, “The only way to enforce non-union contracts like this involves personally taking giant companies like Capcom to court.” Diskin conveyed that he does not possess the resources or strength to engage in such legal battles.

His Love for the Role

Despite his exit, Diskin expressed heartfelt sentiments towards the character he has portrayed. He voiced Mega Man in “Mega Man 11,” a title that became the best-selling game in the series’ history.

He stated, “It’s been an honor voicing Mega Man.” Diskin hopes that “Mega Man: Dual Override” surpasses the success of its predecessor while appreciating the development team’s efforts.

“Mega Man: Dual Override” is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch in 2027. Fans are eager to see how the game will unfold, even as Ben Diskin steps back from his iconic role.
