Kaden Elliss, who played for the Atlanta Falcons, has joined the New Orleans Saints on a three-year, $33 million contract. This player has impressively maintained a streak of three consecutive seasons with over 100 tackles, contributing 3.5 sacks and six pass defenses last year.
Additionally, Leo Chenal, another significant free agent, is headed to the Washington Commanders for $24.75 million over three years. At just 25 years old, Chenal won two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs and started in 44 games. Last season, he notched 58 tackles, one interception, and two sacks, demonstrating his potential as a formidable addition.
Current Linebacking Situation
The Bengals struggled with inadequate linebacker play last season, prompting concerns about their defensive strategy. Defensive coordinator Al Golden has expressed a pressing need for deeper roster options. Young players like Demetrius Knight Jr. and Barrett Carter are on the rise, but the team requires a veteran presence to guide them.

- Bobby Wagner, 35 years old
Wagner stands out as a viable one-year solution. He maintains a high performance level with 79-plus Pro Football Focus grades over the past four seasons, playing over 1,100 snaps in each campaign since 2019. His projected contract is approximately $8 million. Adding Wagner would provide mentorship for younger players and solidify the middle of the defense as the team aims for a championship run.
