Ivanna Lisette Ortiz Charged With Attempted Murder After Shooting at Rihanna's Beverly Hills Home With AR-15 — Bail Set at $10.2 Million
A 35-year-old Florida woman drove across the country, parked outside Rihanna's gated Beverly Hills-area home, and opened fire with an AR-15-style rifle — while the Grammy-winning singer was inside with her family. The suspect was caught the same afternoon. The motive is under investigation.
Who Is Ivanna Lisette Ortiz — And What Did She Do?
Los Angeles police identified Ivanna Lisette Ortiz as the person who allegedly opened fire on Rihanna's Southern California home on Sunday afternoon. She was booked into custody on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident at the property just outside Beverly Hills.
Ortiz allegedly fired the shots from her car — a white Tesla — parked across the street from the property, then fled the scene. Police allege she fired seven gunshots before speeding away. Seven assault rifle casings were recovered at the home.
Officers followed her to a parking lot in Sherman Oaks, where she was arrested. That's roughly eight miles from the shooting site — and about as far as she got.
Rihanna Was Home. So Were Her Children.
The nine-time Grammy winner was at the Beverly Crest property, just north of Beverly Hills, with partner A$AP Rocky and their children when the shots were fired at approximately 1:15 p.m. PT. No one was hurt.
LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed Tuesday that 10 people were at the home during the shooting — citing that figure as part of the reasoning behind the elevated bail amount. He did not specify whether A$AP Rocky or the couple's three children — sons RZA and Riot Rose, and daughter Rocki — were among those present.
Multiple shots struck the exterior of the mansion. None penetrated to the interior. Aerial footage circulating after the incident showed bullet holes clearly visible in the property's front gate.
Social Media Trail: Weeks of Erratic Posts Targeting Rihanna
Ortiz did not arrive quietly. Her social media accounts documented a deteriorating fixation on the singer in the weeks before the shooting.
A February 23 Facebook post from Ortiz's account read: "@badgalriri Are you there? Cause I was waiting for your AIDS 5-head self to say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I'm not at."
In a January 4 video, Ortiz said: "Listen Rihanna, when you die God is taking me to my future.. yeah, she wants to kill me."
In other posts, Ortiz claimed Rihanna did "her little music thing so she can do witchcraft" and that the singer "wants to kill me." LAPD confirmed investigators are reviewing her full social media history as part of the ongoing investigation.
Who Is Ortiz? Florida Records, Domestic Violence History, and a Concert Injunction
The suspect was linked to social media accounts of an Illinois native who identifies as a speech therapist in Florida. State records confirm a licensed speech-language pathologist of the same name whose license was issued March 17, 2015, and remains active through December 31, 2027.
Her record predates Sunday. Ortiz has arrest records linked to Florida, including a violent domestic incident on June 25, 2023, when her ex-husband dropped off their children at her apartment. She also recently sought a court injunction to block a Billie Eilish concert in Florida.
LAPD Chief McDonnell said investigators believe Ortiz drove to Los Angeles from Florida, though how long she had been in the city before the shooting remains unclear.
Bail, Charges, and What Comes Next
Ortiz was booked for attempted murder. Bail was set at $10,225,000. She remains in custody.
She was arrested at 2:20 p.m. Sunday and booked into L.A. County jail shortly after 2 a.m. Monday. No formal charges beyond the booking have been announced as of Wednesday morning ET.
LAPD Chief McDonnell told reporters Tuesday that the department recovered the weapon used in the shooting.
