Forest City Cleveland: New Pro Soccer Team Reveals Identity
Today marks a significant milestone for professional soccer in Cleveland as the new men’s soccer team reveals its name: Forest City Cleveland. This initiative aims to engage and unify the regional soccer community, showcasing the city’s rich history and vibrant future.
Community-Driven Identity
The identity of Forest City Cleveland is a result of extensive community input. Over 3,000 participants from Northeast Ohio contributed through surveys, focus groups, and interviews. This grassroots approach ensured that the branding resonates with fans, players, and families alike.
“We envisioned a club built with Cleveland, not just introduced to it,” stated Gina Prodan Kelly, Chief Marketing Officer of Cleveland Soccer Group. “The involvement of the community shaped Forest City Cleveland’s identity, embodying both our past and future.”
Creative Leadership
- Alex Kocher: Founder of Easy Friday Co. and a Cleveland native with experience in major soccer brands.
- Mo Fitzgerald: Brand strategist and former professional soccer player focused on sport, art, and culture.
Kocher noted, “It’s an incredible honor to shape the brand identities of Cleveland’s professional soccer clubs.”
A Symbol of Resilience
The club’s crest features the historic sycamore known as the “Die Hard Tree,” located in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. This tree, over 350 years old, symbolizes Cleveland’s enduring spirit, having survived significant adversity while continuing to thrive.
