Sonos is making a significant return to its roots in whole-home audio by launching new consumer speakers. This includes the highly anticipated Sonos Play, a portable speaker priced at $299, alongside the Era 100 SL. These new additions aim to enhance the user experience and expand the Sonos audio ecosystem.
Introducing the Sonos Play: A Portable Speaker for Every Environment
The Sonos Play is designed for versatility. Weighing less than three pounds, it features a cylindrical oval shape measuring 7.5 inches in height, 4.5 inches in width, and 3 inches in depth. A removable utility loop allows users to carry or hang the speaker with ease.

When at home, the Play can rest on its charging base, ensuring it remains charged and ready for use. Optional battery replacement kits are available for $69, simplifying the replacement process.
Era 100 SL: A Cost-Effective Audio Solution
The Era 100 SL, priced at $189, offers a simplified version of the Era 100 while retaining its dimensions and speaker configuration. It includes two angled tweeters and a single midwoofer, providing a sound profile that matches the Era 100 but without a built-in microphone.
Availability
Both the Sonos Play and the Era 100 SL are now available for preorder on Sonos’ website, as well as Amazon and other retailers. General availability is set to begin on March 31st, making it easier for new customers to dive into the Sonos experience and for existing customers to expand their audio systems.
