Dwight Howard Files for Divorce From Amy Luciani Hours After Drug Allegations, Royce Reed Says She Saw This Coming
Fourteen months of marriage. Two prior divorce filings. A weekend of viral accusations. And now, court papers that may finally stick.
Dwight Howard filed for divorce from his wife, Amber Howard — publicly known as Amy Luciani — on Monday, March 9, with court documents describing the marriage as "irretrievably broken" and the couple as "living in a bona fide state of separation with no hope of reconciliation."
The Filing
Howard listed their marriage date as January 11, 2025, noted that they had no children together, and demanded exclusive use of his Georgia mansion. A mutual restraining order was filed alongside the divorce petition, barring either party from harming one another or their children, selling property outside the ordinary course of business, canceling insurance, or disconnecting utilities.
Howard is not seeking an equitable division of assets — a sharp contrast to Luciani's July 2025 filing, in which she requested that all property be divided by the courts and also sought alimony.
What Luciani Said Online
The filing came hours after Luciani posted an emotional Instagram Live video that spread rapidly across social media. She tearfully claimed CPS had removed Howard's daughter from their home, that police had been called three times in under three months, and that she had remained in the marriage despite fear for her own safety — because she felt pressure from people around her not to leave.
She went further. At one point, Luciani held up a large plastic bag containing a powdery substance and a vial, saying drugs were what she was "losing her marriage" to, and accused Howard of coaching his 12-year-old son to cover for his alleged substance use.
Police had visited the couple's Suwanee, Georgia home at least three times recently, with calls reportedly involving a suicide threat, a domestic incident, and a theft allegation. Howard has not publicly responded to any of the accusations, and his representatives have not commented.
TMZ reached out to Howard's camp but received no response. The CPS claim is unconfirmed.
Royce Reed Weighs In
The blowup drew Royce Reed back into public view. Reed, who shares a 17-year-old son with Howard, took to Instagram on Sunday and said Luciani's complaints mirrored ones she herself had been making for years.
"You called me crazy, right? You said I was jealous," Reed said, appearing to address Luciani directly. "It's because of what he does to other people. I was just first. I was collateral damage."
Howard and Reed's son also weighed in publicly, calmly asking his father to seek help and heal.
A Marriage That Never Found Solid Ground
This is not the first time the relationship has reached this point. Luciani filed for divorce in mid-2025, just months after the wedding, with documents using nearly identical language — "irretrievably broken," no hope of reconciliation. She withdrew that petition, and Howard later withdrew a similar filing of his own.
Luciani said she returned to the marriage under social pressure. "I had everybody around me saying 'You can't leave your husband this soon, you said through sickness through health.' That's why I came back, but this has gone way too far."
On Monday night, Howard made a public appearance at the Los Angeles Lakers vs. New York Knicks game at Crypto.com Arena, where cameras caught him in the crowd. He received a standing ovation, smiled, and waved.
