On Friday, March 6, Corey Feldman posted an all-caps message on X (formerly Twitter) responding to speculation about the Oscars tribute lineup. In his post, Corey Feldman wrote that it was true he was not invited, while acknowledging that many people believed the decision was connected to him being outspoken about abuse he suffered as a child and what he described as a campaign to silence him.
Corey Feldman also sought to redirect attention back to the purpose of the segment, writing that the moment was not about him and instead should center on “the tragic loss of our friend Rob Reiner and his memory. ”

In the same message, Corey Feldman told supporters to stop and asked that any petitions pushing for his presence at the awards be taken down. He added that he appreciated the support, but insisted the Academy did not need him there.
Corey Feldman also expressed confidence in those participating in the tribute, writing that Stand by Me actors Wil Wheaton and Jerry O’Connell “got this” and would do a “fantastic job. ” He said he would honor Reiner “my own way. ”

Additional names tied to the tribute include Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, who are expected to reunite at the Oscars to honor Reiner. Plans also include Crystal speaking about Reiner during the In Memoriam segment, with Ryan on stage at the same time along with other stars of Reiner’s films.
Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Brentwood home on Dec. 14. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later reported they died from “multiple sharp force injuries. ” Their son, Nick Reiner, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder, and he pleaded not guilty on Feb. 23. He appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court and agreed to a future court date of April 29. He faces two counts of murder with an enhancement that could carry the death penalty or life without parole if convicted.
Following the deaths, a group of Reiner’s friends and collaborators including Billy Crystal, Larry David, Martin Short, and Albert Brooks released a joint statement remembering him as a director with wide range and enduring influence.
