Pokémon Pokopia Today: More Spores for Hoppip Event Is Now Live — Mystery Gifts and What's Next
Pokémon Pokopia Today

Pokémon Pokopia has only been out for four days and the updates are already flowing. The Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive life sim launched to historic review scores and today, Monday March 9, 2026, its first limited-time event officially goes live.

More Spores for Hoppip — Live Right Now

The first Pokopia Limited-Time Event, titled "More Spores for Hoppip," runs from March 9, 2026 through March 24, 2026. During that time, players can encounter three Pokémon that are exclusive to the event — with Hoppip at the center.

Players can collect special cotton spores that appear throughout town. These spores act as event currency and can be exchanged for picnic-themed furniture items. Once players use those items to build a habitat, two additional Pokémon become available to befriend — Skiploom and Jumpluff.

Be aware that it takes approximately 30 minutes of play time before you are able to access the Mystery Gifts menu. The gift is available in both the physical game-key card and digital versions of Pokémon Pokopia.

Mystery Gift System Is Now Active — Free Ditto Rug for Pre-Orders

The Pokémon Company has activated the Mystery Gift system in Pokémon Pokopia. The first reward currently live is the Ditto Rug — a pre-order exclusive item delivered automatically over the internet. Players who pre-ordered the game do not need to enter any code. The claim window remains open until Sunday, January 31, 2027.

Mystery Gift codes in Pokémon Pokopia can only be redeemed once per account, so players will want to act quickly when new codes are announced. Event-based codes historically have short redemption windows, sometimes lasting only a few days.

Nintendo Switch Online Profile Icons — Four Waves Coming

The first wave of Pokémon Pokopia-themed profile icons is now available through Nintendo Switch Online. A total of four waves will be released and will end on April 1, 2026.

Cloud Island, Multiplayer, and Real-World Time System

Pokémon Pokopia supports local wireless and online multiplayer for up to four players, with online play requiring a Nintendo Switch Online membership. The game features a day and night cycle linked to real-world time — some Pokémon and events only appear at specific times or on certain days, adding a dynamic layer to your Pokémon Pokopia experience. While many constructions are instant, some larger buildings require real-world time to complete.

What Is Coming Next for Pokémon Pokopia

Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves were announced as upcoming mainline titles during the Pokémon Day 2026 Pokémon Presents, with both games due for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2 for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers in March 2026.

Pokémon Pokopia currently holds an 89 on Metacritic — the highest-rated Pokémon game of all time.
